Cookie Policy

This page lists the cookies and similar tools Rock Guitar Power uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to switch the optional ones off.

The short version

  • A few cookies are needed to make the site work (keeping you signed in, checkout, remembering your choice). These are always on.
  • Other cookies help us measure the site and our ads. In places where the law requires it, these stay off until you say yes.
  • You can change your mind at any time, using the button below or the link in the footer.
  • We honour the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out of advertising.

This summary is here to help you read the page. The full wording below is what applies.

1. The short version in plain words

A cookie is a small file your browser stores for a website. Some are essential, like the one that remembers you are signed in. Others count visitors or help us see whether an ad led to a sign-up. We split ours into four groups below so you can see exactly what each one does.

2. Change your choices

You can open the cookie settings at any time and switch the optional groups on or off.

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of advertising cookies and sharing, and we apply it automatically. You can also use the Your Privacy Choices page.

Embedded content

  • Vimeo player for lesson and preview videos. We use Vimeo’s do-not-track setting.
  • YouTube in older blog posts. New embeds use the youtube-nocookie domain, but older stored posts may still set YouTube cookies when you play the video.
  • Spotify in a few blog posts.

These companies may set their own cookies once you press play. Their policies apply to what they collect.

5. Browser storage

Besides cookies, we keep a few items in your browser’s local storage:

  • sgl_utm_data: the campaign tags from the link you arrived on.
  • sgl_fbp: a copy of the Meta browser ID, only when advertising is on.
  • Quiz progress and checkout state, so you can pick up where you left off.
  • A backup copy of your cookie choice.

6. Measurement from our server

When advertising is on for you, our server also reports sign-ups and purchases to Meta, Google and Microsoft. The report includes a hashed (scrambled) email address, your IP address and browser type, and the ad-click ID. This stops when you turn advertising off, through the banner, Cookie Preferences, Your Privacy Choices, or Global Privacy Control.

7. Deleting cookies and ad opt-outs

Deleting cookies signs you out and may make the cookie banner appear again.
