Accessibility Statement

We want every guitar player to be able to learn with Rock Guitar Power, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This page says what we do today, what still needs work, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

Effective: October 3, 2026|Last updated: October 3, 2026

In short

  • We build the site to the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines as our target, and we design for phones first.
  • Nearly every lesson video has captions; a small number of older videos do not yet.
  • Guitar tabs are pictures. We are working on text alternatives, and we will send you a readable version of any tab on request.
  • If anything on the site is hard for you to use, email support@rockguitarpower.com and we will fix it or find another way to get you the lesson.

This summary is here to help you read the page. The full wording below is what applies.

1. Our commitment

Rock Guitar Power is run by one guitar teacher, not a large company, so we cannot promise a perfect site. What we can promise is that accessibility is part of how we build, that we test on real phones and with keyboard-only navigation, and that we treat every accessibility report as a bug to fix, not a request to file away.

2. The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the public website and the members site. We check pages with automated accessibility tools and by hand (keyboard navigation, screen-reader spot checks, text zoom to 200%, and colour-contrast checks). We have not had a third-party audit; this statement is our own honest assessment.

3. What is in place today

Across the site

  • Every page works on a phone, in portrait and landscape, and scales up to 200% text size without losing content.
  • Pages have a logical heading structure, descriptive page titles, and landmarks so screen readers can jump around.
  • Everything can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and background colours are chosen for contrast on our dark theme (light text on dark backgrounds, blue and orange accents checked against them).
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Forms (the skill quiz, contact form, sign-in, checkout) have labelled fields and clear error messages.
  • No content flashes, and nothing starts playing sound automatically.

In the lessons

  • Lesson videos use the Vimeo player, which supports keyboard control, captions, and playback-speed changes. Captions are available on almost every lesson.
  • Guitar tab and chord pictures are drawn large and clear, and the lesson page shows a wider version when you turn your phone sideways.
  • Backing tracks and audio examples use a standard player with keyboard controls.
  • The AI guitar assistant lets you ask about any lesson in plain text and get a plain-text answer, which can help when a diagram is hard to read.

4. What we know still needs work

  • Guitar tabs are images. Screen readers cannot read the notes inside them. We are exploring text and MIDI alternatives. Until then, email us and we will send a readable version of any tab you need.
  • A few older videos have no captions (fewer than a dozen of more than 300). We add captions as we re-edit older lessons.
  • Some older blog posts embed videos from YouTube or audio players from other services, whose accessibility we do not control.
  • Chord-chart and scale diagrams have short text descriptions, not full note-by-note alternatives.

5. Assistive technology we test with

We check the site with recent versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge; with VoiceOver on iPhone and Mac; and with keyboard-only navigation. Other screen readers and browsers should work too, but tell us if they do not.

6. Tell us about a problem

If any part of the site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email support@rockguitarpower.com with the page address and what happened. We reply within 2 business days. While we fix the problem we will find another way to get you the lesson, for example a readable tab, a transcript, or a direct video link. If you are not satisfied with our response, say so and the owner will look at it personally.

This statement was last reviewed October 3, 2026. We update it whenever the site changes in a way that affects accessibility.
